Former Anambra State governor and NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has challenged Labour Party chieftain Abayomi Arabambi to provide evidence supporting allegations that funds donated to his presidential campaign were not properly remitted.
Speaking during an interview on Nevon HQ, Obi dismissed the claims, describing them as baseless and lacking proof. He questioned the existence of the accounts allegedly linked to the missing funds and argued that accusations should be supported with verifiable evidence rather than mere statements.
Obi maintained that all funds received during his 2023 presidential campaign were properly accounted for. He expressed confidence that no financial irregularities occurred and insisted that anyone making such allegations should be able to present documentary evidence.
The former presidential candidate also suggested that he may take further action against individuals who make unsubstantiated claims about him. According to him, public figures should not be accused of wrongdoing without credible proof.
Obi further stated that if Arabambi could provide evidence showing that even a small portion of the funds allegedly mentioned was missing, including $130,000 or N130 million, he would immediately stop campaigning for his presidential ambition.
In his words, “If Arambabi can show you evidence of an account where he can allege that 1 percent of what he said is missing, I will stop campaigning. If he can show you an account where there’s a missing 130 thousand dollars, and 130 million naira, I will stop campaigning.”
