Loveth Izekor, Special Adviser on Women Affairs to the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Chairman, has argued that the success of women leading Nigeria’s financial institutions demonstrates their capacity to serve in the country’s highest political office.
Speaking in a video shared by Trust TV on Saturday, July 4, 2026, Izekor responded to a question about whether Nigeria could elect a female president, citing the growing number of women serving as chief executives of major banks.
“Look at the financial institutions… most of the CEOs right now are women. So, if a financial institution could entrust that into the hands of women, why do you think a country will not?” she said.
Izekor maintained that female banking executives earned their positions through merit and performance rather than favouritism, arguing that the same confidence should be extended to women seeking national leadership roles.
She urged Nigerians to judge women by their achievements across different sectors and expressed confidence that continued participation in leadership would eventually make the election of a female president more acceptable.
