Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has dismissed claims that he has neglected Christians in northern Nigeria, saying the church maintains a strong presence across the region despite persistent security challenges.
Speaking at an event in Washington, D.C., in a video shared on the RCCG leader’s official YouTube channel on July 1, 2026, Adeboye said critics had accused him of focusing more on the South because he is from the region.
Responding, he said, “People were complaining that I’m from the southern part of Nigeria… They were accusing me… that I’m not paying enough attention to the churches in the North.” He added, “As of now, in the north where the persecution is supposed to be toughest, I have more than 8,000 churches under my care.”
Adeboye also recounted the killing of a female RCCG pastor during an early morning evangelism exercise, alleging she was attacked near a mosque and that the incident was not investigated. “The police didn’t even come,” he claimed.
Despite the challenges, Adeboye said the RCCG remains committed to supporting Christians, strengthening local congregations and expanding its ministry across northern Nigeria.
