Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, says residents of Oyo State were surprised after learning the amount of federal allocations received by their local governments.
According to a video shared by Symfoni on July 17, 2026, Bwala said he visited Oyo State to engage residents on what he described as the impact of President Bola Tinubu’s administration on local government finances.
He claimed that many residents had been led to believe that the Federal Government had done little for the state. During his visit, he said he explained how much each local government receives, prompting disbelief among those in attendance.
“I was in Oyo… When I started to tell them how much they get in their local government, they could not believe it,” Bwala said, adding that the information was a “revelation” to many residents.
Bwala argued that greater public awareness of local government allocations would help citizens better evaluate the performance of their councils and understand the Federal Government’s role in funding local administration.:::
