Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has warned that the country’s economy has become its primary battleground following recent military attacks, describing the situation as a “full-scale war” extending beyond armed conflict.
Speaking during a meeting of Iran’s High Council of the Judiciary on Monday, Pezeshkian said worsening economic conditions pose a serious threat to national stability and public confidence. He stressed that protecting citizens’ livelihoods must be treated with the same urgency as national security.
“The economy has become the country’s main battlefield after military attacks,” he said, warning that persistent inflation, declining purchasing power and growing financial hardship could fuel social unrest if left unaddressed.
The president called on government officials to prioritize economic recovery, arguing that strengthening financial stability is essential to preserving social cohesion and helping Iran withstand internal and external pressures.
His remarks come amid heightened regional tensions and mounting international pressure on Iran. Pezeshkian said effective policies to improve living standards and ease the burden on households would be critical to maintaining resilience and preventing further public dissatisfaction.
