US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has warned that Iran will continue to face severe consequences for its actions, saying the country is already suffering significant economic and industrial losses.
According to Al Jazeera, Rubio made the remarks on July 23, 2026, while responding to comments from Iranian officials about an “eye for an eye” policy. He said President Donald Trump’s approach was “a head for an eye.”
“They will pay a very heavy price for the things they are doing. They are already paying a heavy price,” Rubio said, claiming Iran’s industrial infrastructure was being “decimated,” causing billions of dollars in damage.
His comments came amid continued exchanges of threats and military actions involving the United States, Israel and Iran. Rubio said the Trump administration would continue to respond firmly to actions by Tehran, arguing that the conflict was already placing significant economic pressure on the Iranian government.
