Is It How Obi Thinks They’ll Vote for Him? By Telling Nigerians the President Didn’t Call Seyi – Wike

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has criticised Peter Obi over his comments on President Bola Tinubu’s response to the abduction of students in Oyo State.

Speaking during a media parley on TVC News, Wike questioned Obi’s claim that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde did not receive a phone call from the President following the incident. He said he could not confirm whether such a call took place but argued that it is the governor’s responsibility, as the state’s chief security officer, to first brief the President on major security incidents.

Wike said the key issue is whether the President took action to address the kidnapping, not whether a phone call occurred. He accused Obi of politicising a serious security matter by publicly repeating what he claimed Makinde told him while ignoring the broader response of the Federal Government.

He also argued that disclosing whether the President called the governor would not aid the rescue of the abducted students, urging Nigerians to focus instead on the government’s efforts to secure their release.

“Is it how Obi thinks that they will vote for him? It’s by telling Nigerians the president didn’t call Seyi, that was what Seyi told me,” Wike said.
