Human rights activist and House of Representatives aspirant Dickson Iroegbu has criticised the Bola Tinubu administration, describing it as an “Oluwole system of government” and likening it to a “Yahoo Yahoo” operation.
Speaking during an interview on Mic on Podcast with Seun Okinbaloye, Iroegbu cited reports of a purported government agency operating from the Federal Secretariat that was later declared fake as evidence of what he described as the administration’s failings.
Addressing the 2023 presidential election, Iroegbu said Peter Obi had fully supported Atiku Abubakar’s candidacy in 2019 and delayed declaring his own presidential ambition in 2023 out of respect for the former vice president. He claimed he had written Atiku after the 2019 Supreme Court judgment, urging him to support Obi for the presidency with his son, Adamu, as running mate, but said the proposal was not accepted.
Iroegbu argued that Atiku failed to reciprocate Obi’s loyalty and dismissed claims by Presidential Adviser Sunday Dare that Obi has no path to victory in 2027, noting that similar predictions were made before the 2023 election despite Obi receiving 6.1 million votes.
He urged the Federal Government to ensure a free and fair 2027 election, citing economic hardship, insecurity and what he described as government failure.
“It has become clear that the Tinubu administration is more like an Oluwole system of government, a Yahoo Yahoo system of government… The presidency itself declaring such a person that occupies an office in the Federal Secretariat, that actually that agency is fake, that is how terrible the Tinubu government has become,” Iroegbu said.
