Arsenal are reportedly monitoring the situation of Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior as uncertainty surrounding his future at the Santiago Bernabéu continues, according to a report by the Evening Standard on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
The Brazilian international has emerged as one of the attacking players on manager Mikel Arteta’s shortlist, although the report states that Arsenal have not made a formal approach for the 25-year-old.
Vinicius is said to be entering the final year of his current contract, with negotiations over a new deal reportedly progressing slowly. However, former Arsenal and France midfielder Emmanuel Petit believes Real Madrid should not be overly concerned if the Brazilian leaves.

“Something has to be rebuilt in Madrid. You cannot rely all the time on the brilliance of Mbappé or Vinicius, they have to stop that. Spain and PSG have sent strong messages over the last two seasons that the team matters. It’s not based on the individual, it’s about the team’s unity,” Petit said.
He added that Mourinho’s rebuilding project should focus on assembling a disciplined and balanced squad capable of competing consistently, suggesting that any funds generated from major player sales should be reinvested strategically.
The comments come amid continued speculation over Vinicius’ future, with Arsenal identified as one of the clubs monitoring developments.
Should negotiations over a contract extension remain unresolved, the Premier League side could be presented with an opportunity to pursue one of Europe’s most highly rated attackers.
Vinicius is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading wingers, having established himself as a key player for Real Madrid with his pace, dribbling ability and goal-scoring contributions.
