Khamenei: Attacking Roads and Bridges Shows This War Has Reached a New, Bigger Stage — Schwarz

Adi Schwarz says recent US strikes on Iranian infrastructure mark a significant escalation in the conflict, describing them as the beginning of a new phase in the military campaign.

Speaking in an interview aired on Fox News on Friday, July 17, 2026, Schwarz said the targeting of bridges and other infrastructure differs from previous operations, which largely focused on military installations and nuclear-related sites.

“There’s a difference. Until now, the United States and Israel tried not to harm the basic infrastructure of the country, the economy,” Schwarz said.

“It was clear that this is a different stage. This is a new stage by attacking infrastructure, civilian or dual-use military infrastructure. That is a different level, and I think this is still the beginning.”

Schwarz said continued attacks on roads, bridges, rail lines, and other dual-use infrastructure in the coming days and weeks would confirm a broader shift in strategy.

He also warned that the escalation could increase regional tensions, noting that Iran has previously threatened to retaliate against energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates if its own infrastructure comes under sustained attack.
