Lagos: We Saw People Carrying Hammers With Thugs, They Were With Policemen and Guns — Kpoti

A resident of Santos Estate, Kpoti, has alleged that suspected land grabbers invaded Valley/Santos Estate in Ikeja, Lagos, claiming they were accompanied by armed policemen, leaving residents fearful and confused.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News on Sunday, August 2, 2026, Kpoti said residents were unaware of any dispute involving the estate before they began seeing notices pasted on their gates and markings on their walls. He maintained that no official explanation or communication was provided before the incident.

“We didn’t know of anything. All we saw was notices pasted on our gates and things written on our walls without any information. On the second day, we saw people carrying hammers, with some thugs following them. They were with policemen and guns. They didn’t say anything to us,” Kpoti said.

He added that the unexplained notices and markings caused anxiety among residents, who were uncertain about their purpose. According to him, tensions escalated the following day when the group returned, allegedly accompanied by armed security personnel and individuals he described as thugs.
