Isaac Fayose has reacted to the appointment of his elder brother, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, as chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
In a video posted on his Facebook page, Isaac said he was surprised by the appointment, claiming it came shortly after Labour Party ally Peter Obi visited him. He said the timing made him believe there was an attempt to influence or create division within his family because of his relationship with Obi.
Isaac noted that some people had expected Ayo Fayose to be appointed a minister or ambassador but that he was instead named chairman of the REA.
He recalled that his brother had repeatedly told him he would not accept any government appointment after leaving office as governor, choosing instead to focus on his private business, where he had been successful before entering politics.
Questioning the timing of the appointment, Isaac described it as a “Greek gift,” arguing it could have been offered earlier if the government genuinely wanted Ayo Fayose to serve.
“My brother told me, ‘Isaac, when I’m leaving this Government House, I will not be a minister, DG, Senator. I will not be anything. I will face my business,'” he said.
