According to a report by Nigerian Tribune on Saturday, June 13, 2026, a prophetess identified as Idowu has approached a Grade A Customary Court sitting in Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, seeking the dissolution of her marriage to her husband, Aaron.
In her petition before the court, Idowu cited several reasons for requesting a divorce, including alleged irresponsibility, neglect, domestic violence, and repeated threats to her life.
She told the court that the marriage had been plagued by persistent challenges and that the relationship lacked the love, care, and affection expected in a marital union.
According to her, the situation had deteriorated to a point where continuing to live with her husband posed a serious risk to her well-being and that of their children.
Idowu alleged that Aaron regularly subjected her to physical abuse and mistreatment throughout their marriage.
She further accused him of marital rape and claimed that he frequently intimidated her with threats of violence.
According to her testimony, Aaron often resorted to aggressive behaviour whenever disagreements arose between them.
She maintained that these actions created a hostile and fearful environment within their home, making it difficult for her to enjoy peace or feel secure.

The plaintiff stated that the alleged abuse became a recurring feature of their relationship and contributed significantly to the collapse of the marriage.
The plaintiff also accused Aaron of neglecting his responsibilities as a husband and father. She told the court that he failed to provide adequately for the family and left her and their four children to struggle for survival.
According to Idowu, there were several occasions when she and the children faced hunger because Aaron allegedly refused to meet their basic needs.
She stated that despite being responsible for the welfare of the household, he failed to contribute meaningfully to the upbringing and education of their children.
She further alleged that she was compelled to shoulder virtually all family responsibilities on her own due to his lack of support.
Giving further details of her efforts to support the children, Idowu informed the court that she single-handedly financed the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations for their eldest set of twins.
She stated that the twins performed exceptionally well in the examinations and achieved commendable results.
However, according to her, Aaron subsequently refused to fund their higher education despite their academic success.
She explained that his unwillingness to contribute towards their educational advancement placed additional financial pressure on her and further demonstrated his neglect of parental responsibilities.
Fearing for her safety and the welfare of her children, Idowu stated that she eventually left the matrimonial home with their four children, who consist of two sets of twins.
She told the court that since her departure, Aaron had allegedly provided no financial assistance for the upkeep of the children.
As a result, she requested that the court grant her full custody of all four children. She also sought an order compelling Aaron to contribute financially to their maintenance and welfare.
In addition, she asked the court to issue a restraining order to safeguard her privacy and protect her from any form of harassment or threat.
Responding to the petition, Aaron agreed to the dissolution of the marriage but requested custody of the first set of twins.
He also questioned the paternity of the younger set of twins, claiming that Idowu had once informed him during an argument that he was not their biological father.
Aaron further accused Idowu of poor parenting, alleging that one of the younger twins was caught stealing at school, an incident he said brought embarrassment to the family.
He nevertheless offered to provide a monthly feeding allowance of ₦50,000 for the children.
She said, “My husband was in the habit of drawing a knife at me whenever we fought and would threaten to kill me.”
