Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso is reportedly seeking further investment to complete his preferred defensive setup despite the club’s expected signing of French defender Maxence Lacroix.
According to a report by Football London on Sunday, July 26, 2026, the Blues have already enjoyed an active summer transfer window, but Alonso believes additional reinforcements are still required if Chelsea are to build a defence capable of competing for major trophies next season.
The west London club moved quickly in the market by strengthening several areas of the squad ahead of the new campaign.
Chelsea’s first major signing of the summer was highly rated right-back Marco Palestra, who joined from Atalanta in a deal reportedly worth around £47 million.
Palestra arrived at Stamford Bridge following an impressive season in Serie A and became one of the first additions under Alonso since the Spaniard took charge of the club.
The Blues later completed one of the biggest transfers of the window by securing the signing of England international Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.
