Senator Ali Ndume has denied allegations by Samaila Kaigama that he acted as an “in-house” mediator for Boko Haram during efforts to secure the release of victims abducted from Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
Speaking in an interview with Arise Television, Ndume said he played no role in negotiations with the insurgents and did not pay any ransom for the victims’ release. He also rejected Kaigama’s allegation that he is a sponsor of Boko Haram.
Ndume disclosed that he has asked security agencies to investigate both himself and Kaigama over the claims. He added that he intends to institute a defamation lawsuit against Kaigama.
Questioning the allegation, Ndume said: “He even brought this issue again that I was a sponsor of Boko Haram. If there is any element of truth in it, why would he come in as a mediator while I am the sponsor? I am supposed to be the boss. So, you see, it does not add up.”
Ndume maintained that the allegations are false and said he is prepared for the outcome of the investigations.
