According to a report by The Nation, Director General of The Narrative Force, Aare Amerijoye DOT.B, on Friday, July 31, 2026, released an open letter addressed to former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, questioning comments the former leader reportedly made about former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in a letter to Aremo Olusegun Osoba.
DOT.B said he initially dismissed the letter as a forgery after former Ekiti State Deputy Governor Prof. Olusola Eleka brought it to his attention, believing it had been fabricated to damage Atiku’s reputation. However, after examining the document, he said he confirmed it was authentic, noting it was written on Obasanjo’s official letterhead, dated July 23, 2026, and bore his Abeokuta residence address.
He expressed disappointment over its authenticity and questioned why Obasanjo responded to issues raised in Osoba’s memoir about eight years after its publication, particularly as Nigeria approaches another presidential election and Atiku has emerged as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate.
DOT.B also questioned why a letter reportedly concerning Osoba and the Alliance for Democracy included allegations against Atiku, including claims of bribery, a two-track political arrangement, and seeking power “by hook or by crook.”
“Baba, we are not children. A letter to Osoba does not need Atiku in it. That Atiku is in it at all tells us who the letter was really written for,” he said.
