Kenneth Okonkwo has said he has not been served with court documents in the reported defamation lawsuit filed against him by Peter Obi, insisting he is prepared to defend himself wherever the case is heard.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Okonkwo maintained that his remarks were based on information already in the public domain and questioned how his comments could constitute defamation. He cited claims allegedly made by Senator Seriake Dickson regarding offers made to activist Aisha Yesufu, saying he merely commented on issues surrounding the NDC.
Describing the matter as a civil case receiving unnecessary publicity, Okonkwo declined to disclose his legal strategy but expressed confidence in responding to the suit.
He also questioned why the case was reportedly filed in Onitsha rather than Abuja, noting that he resides in the Federal Capital Territory and made the disputed comments during a television interview in Abuja.
“Let them go to the Atlantic Ocean, we will meet them there. What’s the whole idea of going to Onitsha? You’re in Abuja, it was in this studio that I said what I said, I live in Abuja,” Okonkwo said.
