Hajiya Naja’atu Muhammad, Deputy National Chairman (North-West) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has expressed confidence that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking in an interview with DCL English, Muhammad argued that Peter Obi would struggle to replicate his 2023 electoral performance in several states. She said she believes Obi will lose Lagos State and see reduced support in the South-South due to the political influence of former Rivers State Governor and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.
Muhammad also predicted that Obi’s votes in the South-East would be challenged by the presence of All Progressives Congress (APC) governors in the region. She further argued that the former Labour Party presidential candidate would fail to secure significant support in northern Nigeria.
“Peter Obi will lose a lot of the places that he got in the last election such as Lagos. There are so many places he cannot win because even if you look at the South-South, Wike is there to checkmate him, and in the South-East you have some very strong APC governors that will checkmate his votes,” Muhammad said.
