Samaila Kaigama, President of the Borno South Youth Alliance, has recounted a tense moment during negotiations over the abduction of pupils and other victims from Oriire in Oyo State, alleging that the kidnappers threatened to kill several women and children.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, Kaigama said the abductors contacted him through a video call and showed a group of women and children they claimed they were prepared to execute because they believed the government was not responding quickly enough to their demands.
“They lined up about 15 to 25 women and children. They video called me and were about to slaughter them all because the government was not cooperating fast,” Kaigama said.
According to Kaigama, the incident highlighted the urgency and danger surrounding the negotiations following the Oriire school abduction. He claimed the kidnappers used the video call to intensify pressure on those involved in efforts to secure the victims’ release by demonstrating they were ready to carry out their threats.
