Oyo: They Were Surrounded, Some Were Eliminated and Four Were Critically Wounded — Ngoshe

Retired Assistant Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mohammed Ngoshe, says security operatives surrounded and confronted the armed group responsible for abducting students and a teacher in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, resulting in the deaths of some suspects and the capture of others.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, Ngoshe said the operation was carried out after the victims had been successfully rescued.

According to him, the operation involved multiple security agencies and was based on intelligence that enabled operatives to locate and surround the suspects before launching the final assault.

“They were completely surrounded. They were engaged, and some were eliminated, while about four of them were critically injured and captured,” Ngoshe said.

He stated that the operation dealt a significant blow to the group, with several members killed and four others sustaining critical injuries before being taken into custody.

Ngoshe attributed the success of the operation to effective intelligence gathering and coordination among the participating security agencies.

He stressed that sustained pressure on armed groups is essential to weaken their operational capacity and prevent future attacks on innocent civilians.
