Peter Obi Did Not Win Pankshin Kanam; I Won in APC With a 31,000 Margin, and I’m Not Bragging — Gagdi

House of Representatives member Yusuf Gagdi has disputed claims that Peter Obi enjoyed overwhelming support in his Pankshin/Kanam Federal Constituency during the 2023 general election.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, the Plateau lawmaker said he won the constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by a margin of 31,000 votes, rejecting suggestions that Obi dominated the area.

“I was elected to the National Assembly in 2019, then again in 2023. I will speak about what I know. Peter Obi did not win Pankshin Kanam. I won election in 2023 under the APC, with a margin of 31,000 votes, and I’m not bragging, I’m speaking facts to you. So if you think they are planning against us, what makes you think the APC is not planning to win? Are we sleeping?” Gagdi said.

Gagdi also criticised opposition leaders, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, over their comments on the proposed creation of state police. He argued that focusing on the timing of the policy rather than the loss of lives to insecurity reflects political considerations instead of concern for citizens’ safety.
