Presidential aide Daniel Bwala has strongly criticized former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, saying he is the “worst politician” he has seen in recent years. Bwala made these comments during an interview on TVC News, where he spoke about Obi’s leadership style and behavior toward his supporters.
According to Bwala, Peter Obi only cares about himself and not the people who campaigned and stood by him during the last election. He questioned the current state of Obi’s supporters known as “Obidients,” saying that the group has become disorganized. Bwala also claimed that the behavior of some supporters online makes it difficult to tell the difference between Obidients and IPOB, because of what he described as hateful messages and harsh criticism on social media.
Bwala mentioned individuals who once supported Obi but are no longer close to him. He talked about Late Doyin Okupe, saying Okupe gave his full support to Obi but did not receive proper attention from him when he became sick. Bwala also mentioned Valentine Ozigbo and Kenneth Okonkwo, suggesting that Obi has lost key allies because he lacks leadership qualities.
He further accused Peter Obi of only speaking when negative events happen in Nigeria, but staying silent when good things occur. According to Bwala, this shows that Obi is more interested in political opportunities than the country’s progress.
Bwala said Peter Obi is “inconsequential” in national politics and suggested that his influence has faded since the 2023 elections.
In his words, “Peter Obi that you mentioned, is the worst politician I have seen in recent memory. A politician that thinks only about himself.”
