Political scientist Kunle Fagbemi has called for a thorough investigation into the controversy surrounding the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), describing it as a serious security and governance concern.
Speaking during an interview on Arise News on Monday, July 6, 2026, Fagbemi said, “Nothing must happen to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu because this is not an ordinary matter.”
He expressed concern over allegations that a fictitious agency allegedly operated from the Federal Secretariat and secured a budget line without being detected, arguing that the incident exposes significant institutional and security lapses.
Fagbemi called on security agencies to review access clearances to the State House and conduct a comprehensive audit of individuals occupying offices within the Presidential Villa. He also urged authorities to investigate how the alleged irregularities occurred and identify those responsible.
The political scientist maintained that failure to conduct a transparent investigation and hold accountable any officials found culpable could undermine public confidence in government institutions and weaken the country’s security framework. He further called for those implicated to step aside to allow an independent judicial panel of inquiry to examine the matter, stressing that safeguarding the President and strengthening institutional accountability should remain a national priority.
