Also appearing on Fox News , Trump said he would like to take over the country’s oil infrastructure hub, Kharg Island, but he isn’t sure Americans have the appetite for it.
“We are talking to them, and all, but you know, look, my preference has always been—take Kharg Island … my preference would be that. I don’t know that America has the stomach for it,” he said in an interview on Fox News’ “Fox and Friends.”
Trump gave no details of how the United States would seize Iran’s oil terminals, but any such operation would require the involvement of US ground troops.
The comments came after the Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) announced on X that the Strait of Hormuz would be “completely closed” to transit traffic, citing tensions involving US forces.
