Social media users have reacted to comments by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar regarding the death of Mary Habila after her body was found at a staff chalet within the country home of Minister of Works David Umahi in Ebonyi State.
In a post shared on his official X account on Thursday, Atiku criticised the response of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, alleging that the Presidency had remained silent over the incident. He called on the President to direct Umahi to step aside while investigations are conducted.
“And through all of this, silence from the Presidency. Silence from the Federal Executive Council. Silence from the Inspector General of Police. Silence from the National Assembly. Not one word. Not one directive,” Atiku wrote.
The post generated widespread reactions on X, with users expressing differing opinions on Atiku’s remarks and the handling of the case. Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding Habila’s death are ongoing, while authorities have yet to conclude inquiries into the incident.
