Paul Namaske, Vice Principal of Government Day Secondary School, Lassa, in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, has described how Nigerian troops rescued him and other abductees after terrorists attacked the school.
According to Punch, Namaske said the attackers took the victims into the bush before a coordinated military operation forced them to flee.
“The terrorists took us into the bush. When a military aircraft started hovering over us, the insurgents started dispersing. While this was happening, we heard gunshots from the soldiers, so they (the terrorists) began to run,” he said.
Namaske explained that the combined air and ground operation created panic among the terrorists, causing them to abandon the captives and flee into the bush. He credited the military intervention with preventing what could have become a prolonged period of captivity for those abducted during the attack.
