National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, has reacted to Peter Obi’s response to claims that he issued identity cards to Northerners while serving as governor of Anambra State.
In a video that circulated online, Obi denied the allegation, stating that he never issued ID cards to Northerners during his tenure as governor.
“People have said I gave ID cards to Northerners, but it is not true,” Obi said.
Responding in a post on his official X account on Friday, July 17, 2026, Tanko said the former Labour Party presidential candidate had addressed what he described as “hard questions from the North.”
“Now that the hard questions from the North have been answered, let us come together to build a new nation devoid of lies and propaganda for the benefit of our children and generations yet unborn,” Tanko wrote.
Tanko’s remarks followed Obi’s public denial of the allegation, which has been the subject of political debate in recent weeks.
