Terrorists Attack Army Base, Police Post and Hospital in Borno

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked a Forward Operating Base in Logomani, Ngala Local Government Area, killing one soldier and setting fire to a police outpost, a primary healthcare centre and two classrooms.

According to Punch, the attack occurred late on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. The assailants first targeted the military base before opening fire to disperse residents and burning public facilities.

The Acting Military Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Muhammed Goni, confirmed the incident, saying troops successfully repelled the coordinated attack by suspected Islamic State West Africa Province fighters. He said the insurgents briefly breached part of the base’s defensive perimeter before troops regrouped, launched a counter-offensive and forced them to retreat, inflicting significant casualties.

The Chairman of Ngala Local Government Area visited the community to assess the damage and said the findings would be forwarded to the Borno State Government for urgent intervention. He also urged residents to remain calm and continue cooperating with security agencies.

The attack is the latest in a series of assaults targeting military installations and civilian infrastructure in Borno State.:::
