“They Publicly Called Me a Prostitute, Jezebel and a Hookup Girl Just to Destroy My Name” – Halima Abubakar

Actress Halima Abubakar has spoken about the public backlash she faced during her illness, saying she was subjected to false accusations and derogatory labels that she believes were intended to damage her reputation.

Speaking in a video aired by Channels TV on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, Abubakar said the allegations emerged during her health crisis and persisted for years despite having no basis in her lifestyle or conduct.

“They called me all sort of prostitute. They called me Jezebel,” she said.

“They called me, what do you call these people, who hook up? I’m like, who hooked me up? I would like to know please. And who did you hook up so that I can call the person to give me money?”

Abubakar said she believes the claims originated from one individual before spreading through public commentary and social media. She maintained that the campaign ultimately failed because it was not founded on the truth.

The actress credited her recovery and faith with helping her overcome the ordeal and said she chose to share her experience openly in the hope of encouraging others facing public accusations or reputational attacks during difficult periods.
