Those Who Want a Change of Govt Just Want the President to Go, But What Are You Giving Us? — Fashola

Former Lagos State Governor and ex-Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola, has challenged opposition leaders to present clear policy alternatives rather than focusing solely on replacing the current administration.

Speaking on TVC, Fashola said criticism of the government should be accompanied by practical solutions that offer Nigerians a compelling alternative.

“There’s just not anything exciting on the other side. Those who want a change of government just want the president to go, but what are you giving us instead? We’re not seeing those competing ideas to say this is how I would have done it differently. This is what I would have done instead,” he said.

Fashola argued that a robust policy debate would enable Nigerians to compare competing visions and make informed electoral choices. “It’s not just okay to say things are not working. The question is, how do you plan to make it even better?” he added.

He also cautioned opposition figures against relying on ethnic loyalty to secure votes in the 2027 general election, saying voters should be persuaded by credible policies rather than tribal sentiment.
