A senior Iranian lawmaker has urged United States troops to withdraw from the Middle East, saying they would leave immediately if they understood the significance of a recent warning from Iran’s Supreme Leader.
According to an Al Jazeera English report published on Sunday, July 19, 2026, Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, made the remarks in a post on X in response to comments by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei.
Quoting the Supreme Leader, Azizi wrote, “If American soldiers knew what the wise and resolute Leader meant by ‘unforgettable lessons,’ they wouldn’t waste a single second before fleeing.”
Azizi said the warning reflected Iran’s readiness, alongside its regional allies, to respond if the United States continued military activities in the region. He also cited Khamenei’s recent remarks warning that Washington would face serious consequences if military action against Iran persisted, adding that Iran and the “Resistance Front” were prepared to retaliate if necessary.
The comments come amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington following reciprocal military strikes, with regional governments and the international community urging restraint to prevent a broader conflict.
