The Member of Parliament (MP) for Trobu, Hon. Gloria Owusu, has shown her support for this year’s Homowo Festival by presenting assorted food items and a cash donation to the Ga North Traditional Council.
The MP made the donation yesterday, August 6, during a courtesy visit to the Ofankor Mantse, Nii Kotey Boi II, who is also the President of the Ga North Traditional Council, and other members of the council.
According to Hon. Gloria Owusu, the gesture forms part of her commitment to supporting cultural activities and helping to preserve the traditions and heritage of the Ga people.
She emphasised that traditions play an important role in shaping the identity of communities and should be protected through collective efforts.
“Our traditions remain a vital part of our identity, and preserving them is a collective responsibility,” she said.
The Trobu MP also commended the Ga North Traditional Council for its efforts in promoting unity, peace and the preservation of customs within the traditional area.
She noted that festivals such as Homowo provide an opportunity for communities to celebrate their history, strengthen relationships and promote cultural values among the younger generation.
The Homowo Festival, celebrated by the Ga people, is one of Ghana’s most significant traditional festivals and is marked by various activities including cultural displays, traditional rites and community gatherings.
The Ga North Traditional Council expressed appreciation for the support, which will contribute to the successful organisation of this year’s celebrations.
