Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Barkin Ladi, Plateau State, has linked the reported withdrawal of United States troops from Nigeria to the country’s security challenges, claiming that insurgent groups have gained significant influence within parts of the nation’s security system.
According to a Daily Post report published on Monday, July 6, 2026, Dachomo made the remarks during a church sermon while discussing the implications of the reported withdrawal of American troops involved in counterterrorism cooperation with Nigeria.
“Let me tell you, do you know why America left? Listen, American soldiers withdrew because Boko Haram and ISWAP have taken strategic positions in the Nigeria Army and the security of the country,” he said.
The cleric alleged that concerns over intelligence leaks and the activities of insurgent groups made cooperation between foreign forces and local security agencies increasingly difficult. He also cited attacks that claimed the lives of senior military officers as evidence of the country’s security challenges.
Dachomo urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, take security precautions seriously and continue praying for peace and protection amid the ongoing insecurity.
