Spain defender Marc Cucurella says his side fully deserved its victory after controlling the match and believes the team now has an opportunity to emulate the country’s historic 2010 World Cup-winning generation.
According to a post by football outlet The Touchline on X on July 14, Cucurella said Spain’s performance justified the result, insisting the team remained in control throughout the contest.
“We controlled the match and deserved the win,” he said.
Looking ahead to the World Cup final, Cucurella said the current Spanish squad has a chance to replicate the achievements of Spain’s golden generation, which won the UEFA European Championship before lifting the FIFA World Cup.
“We have a chance to make history just like Spain’s last generation did. They won the Euro and then went on to win the World Cup,” he added.
Spain is now one victory away from reclaiming the FIFA World Cup title and will seek to add another chapter to the nation’s football history after already securing the European Championship.
