President Donald Trump says the United States is close to achieving its military objectives in its standoff with Iran ahead of planned diplomatic talks in Doha, Qatar.
Speaking on June 30, Trump described the upcoming meeting as potentially significant but cautioned that its outcome remains uncertain.
“The meeting in Doha is going to be perhaps important, perhaps not. We’ll find out,” Trump said.
The president expressed confidence in the U.S. military position, adding:
“We’re winning militarily. It’s almost won militarily, I would say.”
Trump reiterated that the administration’s primary objective is preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
“And it’s really very simple. The denuclearization of Iran. We don’t want them to have a nuclear weapon. They’re not going to have a nuclear weapon. They’ve agreed to that,” he said.
His remarks underscore the administration’s position that military pressure and diplomacy will continue to be used to pursue Iran’s denuclearization.
