New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) chieftain Buba Galadima says the proposed Obi-Kwankwaso presidential alliance is aimed at serving the interests of all Nigerians, not any particular ethnic group.
Speaking during an interview on Arise TV, Galadima said Peter Obi’s presidential ambition should be viewed from a national rather than an ethnic perspective, stressing that the alliance seeks to build an inclusive government that represents every part of the country.
“We are working to make Peter Obi the President of Nigeria, not the President of the Igbo people,” he said.
Galadima said the partnership was formed to address national challenges, including insecurity, economic growth and development, which affect citizens across all regions. He argued that portraying the alliance through an ethnic lens ignores its broader objective of promoting national unity.
He added that leadership should be based on competence and commitment to national development rather than ethnic background. Galadima also urged political leaders to avoid divisive narratives, saying cooperation across regional and religious lines is essential to building public confidence and advancing policies that improve the lives of Nigerians.
