Mariam Suleiman has recounted how bandits attacked her family in Gidan Mantau, Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing her husband, shooting her son and abducting five of her children.

Speaking in an interview with News Central TV, Suleiman said the attackers stormed the community during prayer time and opened fire on worshippers at a mosque before moving into residential homes.

She said her son ran to her for help, asking to be hidden from the attackers. As she helped him climb into a hiding place, armed men dressed in black entered the house and ordered her to leave him. She refused, and after helping him climb up, the bandits shot him twice.

“They met my son and he ran to me and told me to help him hide. While I was trying to do that, the bandits who were all dressed in black came into my house. I refused to leave him. After I helped my son climb up, they shot him twice, killed my husband and went away with five of my kids, including a 19-month-old,” she said.

Suleiman said the attack left her family devastated after the gunmen killed her husband and abducted her five children.
