Lagos State lawmaker and actor-turned-politician Desmond Elliot has disclosed that he voluntarily gave away or sold most of his vehicles over the past two years to support charitable causes.
Speaking during an interview with media personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown, Elliot said he once owned two BMWs, two Toyota Prados, and a Hilux but now retains only one Hilux.
“As at two years ago I had two BMWs, two Prados and one Hilux,” he said. “I will shock you today that I only have one Hilux.”
According to the former lawmaker, the decision was motivated by his Christian faith and a desire to help others rather than financial difficulties.
“And what have I done with the rest? I have sowed some because I am a Christian and I do sowing,” Elliot explained.
He added that he sold the remaining vehicles and used the proceeds to fund medical treatments for people in need.
“And then I sold the others so that I can pay for surgeries for people at the hospitals,” he said.
Elliot stated that he has no regrets about the decision, arguing that helping vulnerable individuals brings greater fulfilment than owning luxury vehicles. He also noted that many charitable acts are carried out privately without public attention, stressing that generosity and service remain central to both his faith and public life.
