Insecurity: “They Shot Me 3 Times, But the Bullet Didn’t Penetrate, It Only Bruised My Back” — Victim

A witness has recounted surviving an alleged politically motivated attack in Osun State, claiming he was shot three times in the back but escaped with bruises.

According to an Arise News report, the witness made the claim during a discussion on rising insecurity and alleged political violence ahead of local government elections in the state.

“They shot me three times at my back, but the bullet did not penetrate, it only bruised my back,” he said, while displaying bruises and alleged bullet holes in his house, which he claimed were evidence of the attack.

The report also featured Tolulope, the widow of an Accord Party youth leader allegedly killed in Ede. She said her husband was lured to a meeting before armed men arrived in a Sienna bus and opened fire on him. According to her, after an initial shot failed to penetrate, a man she identified as Fakunle Oladapo removed a bag hanging around her husband’s neck before the attackers shot him again and later attacked him with machetes.

She said her husband died from his injuries before reaching the hospital. The report added that a formal complaint had been filed with the police as concerns over security and political intimidation continue ahead of the elections.
