Political activist Segun Awosanya has questioned the leadership credentials of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, urging Nigerians to critically assess his policy proposals and track record ahead of future elections.
Speaking during an interview with Vanguard News TV, Awosanya argued that voters should evaluate Obi’s political journey, leadership experience and ability to provide clear solutions to Nigeria’s economic, security and governance challenges.
“How many parties will he have to change before you realize that he’s just like the same people he’s trying to criticize? It’s no different from them. What difference is he going to bring? Ask him any question right now and see if he’s going to answer you directly. He doesn’t have a clue what to do. There’s nothing he’s going to do differently from the current administration, if he can even match them at all,” Awosanya said.
He expressed skepticism that Obi would offer a significantly different style of leadership, citing his movement across political parties as a basis for his criticism.
Awosanya urged Nigerians not to support candidates based solely on popularity or party affiliation but to assess their competence, experience and policy agenda. He added that voters should hold political leaders accountable by demanding practical solutions rather than relying on campaign promises.
