Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has criticised the Federal Government’s response to Peter Obi’s claims that his life is under threat, saying authorities should not dismiss or mock credible calls for help from any citizen. In a post on X, Kwankwaso said the government’s reaction was troubling and called for restraint in addressing security concerns.
President Bola Tinubu on Thursday held a closed-door security meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, with top military commanders, intelligence chiefs and security advisers to review the country’s security situation. The meeting, which lasted more than two hours, was attended by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Olufemi Oluyede and other senior security officials.
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives passed the second reading of a bill seeking to establish the Nutritionists Registration Council of Nigeria. Sponsored by Rep. Chike Okafor, the proposed legislation aims to regulate the nutrition profession, curb quackery and strengthen efforts to tackle malnutrition and food insecurity.
In another development, scrutiny continues over the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) controversy following the Presidency’s clearance of Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, its directive for an ICPC investigation and the President’s subsequent assignment of another key national role to the presidential aide.
