Dasola Mishral, the mother of one of the pupils rescued after the abduction at Community High School, Esiele, in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has described the attack as a traumatic experience for affected families.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on July 13, 2026, following the rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers, Mishral recalled the panic that erupted when armed men attacked the school.
“What happened on May 15 was terrifying. We heard gunshots and people started running helter-skelter. We were all devastated, but we are grateful for the intervention that has brought relief,” she said.
Mishral said the weeks following the abduction were marked by uncertainty, anxiety and constant prayers for the safe return of the pupils and teachers. She added that families of the victims endured emotional hardship as they waited for updates from authorities handling the rescue operation.
She expressed gratitude that the victims have regained their freedom, describing the rescue as a source of relief for the affected families and the wider community.
