A resident of Olowa community in Kogi State, Danladi Isah, has recounted how residents tried to rescue students after bandits attacked Government Secondary School, Odo-Ekina, but arrived after the gunmen had fled with some victims.
Speaking to News Central TV on Thursday, Isah said residents rushed to the school after hearing gunfire, hoping to confront the attackers and rescue those in danger. However, by the time they reached the scene, the assailants had escaped into the surrounding bush with several abducted students.
“Before we could get to that place, they had gone. And we started tracing their footprint but we could not see them again. Not quite long, we were still there. We now saw some students running out of the bush,” Isah said.
