Iran has accused the United States of being behind recent attacks on its critical infrastructure, escalating tensions between the two countries amid growing regional instability.
According to Anadolu Agency, Tehran told the United Nations that recent explosions and power grid failures bore what it described as the hallmarks of American cyber and aerial operations. A senior Iranian military official said, “The United States is directly responsible for the sabotage of our nuclear enrichment centers and energy grids. We have identified the methodology used in these strikes as distinctly American.”
The official described the alleged attacks as a violation of Iran’s sovereignty. However, the claims have not been independently verified.
The accusations follow explosions at a petrochemical plant in the Gulf and a major power outage in Isfahan, home to a key nuclear facility. Iranian authorities said they had detained several suspects allegedly linked to foreign intelligence agencies.
The Pentagon has not claimed responsibility for the incidents. U.S. officials have traditionally maintained ambiguity regarding covert operations, while reiterating that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons remains a priority and that “all options remain on the table.”
