Former Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Dr. Robinson Ewor, has said he wrongly believed that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike was preventing Governor Siminalayi Fubara from performing his duties during the state’s political crisis.
According to The Sun Nigeria, Ewor made the remarks during an interview on Arise News on Thursday, July 23, 2026. He admitted that he publicly criticized Wike based on what he then believed was happening.
“I said several unpretentious words against the FCT minister, believing that the FCT minister was stopping Fubara from doing his work. At the end of the day, we discovered that it wasn’t so,” Ewor said.
He argued that Fubara failed to clearly communicate the issues surrounding the crisis, leading many residents, community leaders, women groups and political stakeholders to support him based on assumptions. According to Ewor, the governor’s later reconciliation with Wike left many supporters feeling disappointed and betrayed.
Despite changing his position on the dispute, Ewor maintained that his loyalty has always been to Rivers State rather than to any individual politician, stressing that greater transparency could have helped the public make more informed judgments.
