Former Premier League defender William Gallas believes Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer could eventually join Manchester United, although he does not expect the move to happen anytime soon.
According to Metro on Sunday, August 2, 2026, Gallas said Palmer should remain at Chelsea for at least another season before considering a transfer.
“I don’t think Cole Palmer will go right now. I don’t think it’s time to go right now,” Gallas said. “He will definitely go to Manchester United in the future if he’s a big fan, if he’s got a dream to play for Man United, he will definitely go there.”
Palmer joined Chelsea from Manchester City in a £40 million deal in 2023 and quickly established himself as one of the Premier League’s standout performers. The England international recorded 27 goals and 15 assists in his debut season, finishing with more goal contributions than any other player in the league.
Although he was linked with Manchester United and Manchester City last season amid reports of frustration, Chelsea have consistently maintained that the 24-year-old is not for sale.
Former Chelsea defender Wayne Bridge also suggested Palmer’s childhood support for Manchester United could influence his future but stressed Chelsea view him as the cornerstone of their long-term project and would be reluctant to lose him.
