How a Big Contractor Reacted to Me After I Asked Him to Surrender His Life to Jesus – Pastor Adeboye

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has urged Christians to guard against pride, describing it as a barrier to experiencing God’s grace and divine intervention.

According to the sermon, shared on Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s official YouTube page on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, the cleric delivered the message during the church’s annual convention. He said some people become self-reliant because of their wealth or achievements, warning that material success cannot provide lasting security against life’s uncertainties.

To illustrate his message, Adeboye recounted the story of a wealthy businessman who repeatedly rejected invitations to accept Christ.

“There was a very wealthy businessman, a big contractor, and we’d been talking to him, asking him to surrender his life to Jesus, and he would laugh, saying, ‘Talk to the poor. They are the ones who need your Saviour,'” Adeboye said.

According to the sermon, the businessman later experienced a major personal crisis that changed his outlook and led him to acknowledge his dependence on God. Adeboye urged believers not to wait for difficult circumstances before seeking God, stressing that true security lies in a sincere relationship with Him rather than in wealth, influence or personal achievements.
