President of the Arewa Youths, Abdul-Hamid Dan-Bature Garba, has said the group will not support National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential election.
According to the video, shared by News Century TV on August 5, 2026, Garba claimed Obi should not expect support from any northern state, arguing that he neither consulted nor reached an agreement with the organisation before declaring his presidential ambition.
Garba said the group would instead back a candidate who supported former President Muhammadu Buhari during the 2015 election, although he did not identify any individual the organisation intends to endorse.
According to the video, Garba also warned that any state coordinator who supports Obi against the group’s position would face disciplinary action and be replaced.
He maintained that the organisation’s stance remains unchanged, insisting it has no plans to support Obi’s candidacy in the 2027 presidential election.
