Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has recalled the corruption trial of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Bode George, claiming that supporters of the former party leader had prepared to celebrate before the court delivered its judgment.
According to the video, shared by NTA, Wike said Bode George’s supporters wore matching outfits and celebrated outside the Lagos State High Court on the day judgment was scheduled to be delivered.
Wike questioned why anyone would organise a celebration before a court ruling unless they believed they already knew the outcome of the case.
“When Bode was charged for corruption in Lagos State High Court, the day of the judgment Bode sewed uniforms for his people. They were dancing. How would you have gone to sew uniforms if you did not know the outcome of the judgment? Unfortunately for him he got there and he was convicted,” Wike said.
According to the video, Wike used the incident to argue that public expectations before a court judgment do not always reflect the eventual outcome, noting that Bode George was convicted despite the celebrations by his supporters.:::
