Political analyst Ezeocha Nzeh has questioned the differing sentences imposed in two terrorism-related cases, comparing a death sentence handed to a convicted terrorist arms courier with life imprisonment for three individuals convicted over the Oriire school abduction.
Speaking during an interview on AIT on Friday, July 24, 2026, Nzeh referenced a Katsina State High Court judgment that sentenced a terrorist arms courier, identified as Auwal, to death for supplying weapons to terrorists.
“We don’t know where they’re placing these terrorists. You remember that a High Court in Katsina State sentenced a terrorist arms courier… to death for moving arms to terrorists—not killing—but at least for aiding and supplying them arms,” he said.
Nzeh contrasted that judgment with the recent life sentences imposed on the Oriire kidnappers, who were convicted over the abduction of students and teachers held captive for 56 days. He questioned the apparent disparity in sentencing, arguing that it raised concerns about how the judiciary assesses the gravity of terrorism-related offences.
His remarks reflected his personal views on the differing judicial outcomes in the two cases.
